Unusual Catamaran Salvaged off Australian Beach

How WEIRD is THIS?!

Stranded catamaran washes ashore at Middle Park Beach

A LARGE catamaran has washed ashore on a popular Melbourne beach after battling rough seas.

The 18m (59ft) stranded vessel was beached at Middle Park Beach near Beaconsfield Parade before 2pm on Saturday. Police said the boat had been anchored offshore but rough conditions had pushed it on to the beach despite attempts to steer it away from shallow water. Water police tried to pull the stricken vessel back into the water but were unsuccessful. The owners have now had to call in a salvage team.

The boat has attracted attention from hundreds of surprised locals and visitors who have been hitting the beach over the Australia Day weekend.
